Halloween Night

I am beat. We had quite a busy day. Logan went to daycare for the first time this morning. I think he's going to go 2 times a week. I think this will be a great way for him to play with other kids his own age on a regular basis. I'm also hoping that I will be able to get some projects done around here.

I dropped Logan off around 9 am and picked him back up at 1. Teresa (daycare lady) said the first hour was pretty rough. She said he cried quite a bit but she did say that he did a lot better than most kids when they go to daycare for the first time. I'm hoping that by next week it won't be quite as rough for him.

We took Logan trick-or-treating tonight and he made quite the haul. I think he got about 3 bags full of stuff and we only went to 7 places. I guess it helps when 5 of those are relatives. He got some yummy candy and some neat new toys. Logan loves his costume! Last night while I was at work I got a surprise visit from him and Mike. Logan was wearing his costume! At first though he wouldn't wear his cape or hat but once I told him that it would help him fly better, well that's all it took for him to wear it for most of the night.

I think he enjoyed handing out the candy rather than receiving it. He loved seeing all the kids come to the door and would usually greet them with, "Trick or treat" before they had a chance to. One time Mike said, "Have a happy Halloween" and our little parrot said it too. In between the visits from the kids Logan would usually ask, "Where are the kids?" I think next year will be even more fun!

Almost forgot - Logan is dressed up as a little devil - which is perfect :)

Our Weekend

We had a pretty busy weekend. Friday night we went over to my Mom & Dad's and carved pumpkins. They all turned out really well. Which one do you like the best?Saturday morning I worked at the bookstore. We were so busy so the day flew by! Saturday evening we went out to dinner with my Aunt and her boyfriend. It was a place we had not been to before and it was pretty tasty! Saturday night we stayed at a hotel in town. I got a great deal on the room and they had a pool. Logan had so much fun in the pool. It's amazing how much braver he is compared to this summer. He would even jump off the edge into our arms.

Sunday it was gorgeous out! We spent the afternoon doing some yard work. We finished cleaning out the garden area and also raked up the leaves in the yard. That night I made some Halloween goodies. I'll probably make some more today since they turned out pretty cute. And of course we watched the final game of the World Series. Way to go Boston!!

The Big Boy Bed

The transition has gone a lot smoother than I had anticipated. We've had a couple of bad nights of course but for the most part it hasn't been bad. There was the one night I heard little feet pounding on the hard wood exploring and exercising the new found freedom. There have also been a couple of times that Logan insisted that Pooh Bear sleep in the room with him and later we peek in and he's made a bed on the floor beside the dog. Other days it might take 3 or 4 tries before he actually stays in bed. But there are those days when he gets in bed, I tuck him in, give him a kiss and he's out in less than 10 minutes.

The mornings have gone a lot better too. There has hardly been a day that I've woken up to a toddler screaming to be let out of the cage. Nap times are the same way - most days he'll stay up in his room and play for a bit before he comes downstairs. I was worried but I shouldn't have been. I should have known that when Mommy freaks out about something it is then guaranteed to be fine.

Weekend Wrap-Up (from 2 weeks ago)

Ok – I've been a big slacker but I don't know where the time goes! Friday night my brother came home for a long weekend break from college. On Saturday Taylor, Mom, and I spent the day in Minot. We decided to go back to our Norwegian heritage (mine & Taylor's – my Mom is 100% German) and had a blast. Even though some of the entertainment could have been better, the people watching was awesome!!

Sunday I spent the day over at my Mom & Dad's with Logan. We went out to the pumpkin patch and Logan had fun running around until they made the announcement that scarecrow's were running amuck. Once he heard that he became very clingy and it took awhile for him to forget about them. I just hope they're not running around next weekend when we go out there to get his pictures taken.
Monday, what did I do Monday?? Nothing really went on that day and that evening I went over to my parents' house to see Taylor before he left Tuesday morning.

Tuesday my Aunt Raylene came to town and I convinced her we decided we should get started on painting Logan's room. Since she was only staying until today she wasn't able to finish all of it so wish me luck that I'll be able to do the rest. I'm hoping Auntie Shelia might be able to paint some trees and clouds. I worked last night too.

For some reason my job is cutting into my blogging time – even though I'm not sure how since I always blog during the day and I only work nights and the occasional weekend.

Laptop is down.....Again

Since my warranty expires on the 21st for free computer support I figure I better get my fan fixed once and for all. This will be the third time they try to fix it. I told them that it's not the fan that is breaking, something else is causing it to break. Since they have no idea what is causing it they have resorted to having me mail in my entire system. I have no clue how long this will take so posting could be sparse (not like I've been posting a lot anyway).

It's turning into Fall around here – the leaves are turning, the air is crisp and I want to bake more. I baked an apple crisp last Friday and hopefully this weekend a pumpkin pie will be making an appearance around here.

We've put up most of our Halloween decorations. Logan is having a blast watching our little haunted village. He gets a kick out of the pirate ship and the haunted island that blows a mist around the table. I can't wait to take him trick-or-treating. I just hope he doesn't freak out when he sees other kids in costumes. My Dad scared the crap out of him on Friday. My Mom & Dad had come over for dinner. Once we were done eating Logan was showing Grampy the decorations. Dad went outside to get the scarecrow they had bought for him (about 3 ft. tall and on a bamboo pole so we can have it outside); he came in through the garage and walked up the stairs with it. I don't think Logan saw Grampy carrying the scarecrow – he just saw the scarecrow. He FREAKED out!! Oh my goodness! He screamed and ran over to Mike – he was so scared. We couldn't even show him the scarecrow – he wanted nothing to do with it. Should make for an interesting Halloween night!

Growing Up

Last night while I was at work Mike converted Logan's crib into a toddler bed. When I got home Logan took me upstairs to show me his big boy bed. He was so proud of it – especially the fact that he can now jump out of bed. I was worried that putting him to bed last night would be rough. We got all of his stuffed animals in bed with him along with his juice. He didn't get out of bed once. I'm sure it's a fluke and tonight will be much rougher. This morning I was lying in bed debating if I should get up and shower and a couple of minutes later Logan wandered into the bedroom. I lifted him onto our bed and we watched some cartoons. It was a nice way to wake up – much better than the screaming that I'm used to hearing.

Before he got into the bath last night he did another first too. He sat on the potty without a diaper or clothes on. He freaked out after a couple of seconds but once he got down he flushed the toilet. We gave him lots of praise and told him what a good boy he was. We'll see if this is the beginning of potty-training.
