Growing Up

Last night while I was at work Mike converted Logan's crib into a toddler bed. When I got home Logan took me upstairs to show me his big boy bed. He was so proud of it – especially the fact that he can now jump out of bed. I was worried that putting him to bed last night would be rough. We got all of his stuffed animals in bed with him along with his juice. He didn't get out of bed once. I'm sure it's a fluke and tonight will be much rougher. This morning I was lying in bed debating if I should get up and shower and a couple of minutes later Logan wandered into the bedroom. I lifted him onto our bed and we watched some cartoons. It was a nice way to wake up – much better than the screaming that I'm used to hearing.

Before he got into the bath last night he did another first too. He sat on the potty without a diaper or clothes on. He freaked out after a couple of seconds but once he got down he flushed the toilet. We gave him lots of praise and told him what a good boy he was. We'll see if this is the beginning of potty-training.

Cool. I love that you took a picture of the moment. I did that too. Can't miss the "big boy bed" photo. :) Love it.

Have a great weekend, Tanya. I'm off to IL for my reunion.

HURRAY for potty training! He's such a smart, good boy, I'll bet he'll start training for you. My aunt swears, though, that potty training a boy before 2 1/2 is asking for trouble... We're past that mark, but I think there's still trouble brewing. Scooter will sit on the potty, and LOVES the snacks that come after sitting. Won't he be surprised when I make him DEPOSIT something into the toilet before he gets snacks!! ha ha

And OH GOSH, the big boy bed! Yes, you have some tantrums coming up, undoubtedly. He's going to get a little heady from the out-of-the-crib powertrip. I'm WAITING to hear stories. :D I love it that Scooter can wander into our room to get us if he needs us. I'm waiting for that milestone with Emily, and I'm also waiting for Scooter to be able to get water for himself in the middle of the night, ha ha ha.

Hi Tanya-

Wow a big boy bed! What a step! I am wishing you a smooth potty training. The daytime training is now complete with me hiding the pullups (Carl would go and put on a pullup when he needed to go!)

Have a great weekend!

How's the big boy bed been working out for the past few days??? Hope every night has been an easy as the first!

I am working on switching Jack as well... I'm nervous about it.

Did you know you're the only blogger in Blogger that has the declared occupation of "Logan's Caterer"? :D It's something to be proud of!!

We're getting excuses, too. Here's how we had to handle it. First, stick to the bedtime routine like GLUE. Take all of his excuses and incorporate them into the routine. That way when he is whining for a drink of water, you can say, "But honey, you already HAD a drink of water!" Then the other thing, I got from watching Super Nanny... If they get out of bed, the first time, you say, "No, you are to stay in bed." (I usually say, "You stay. You stay in bed. You stay in bed and sleep. You sleep.") The third and subsequent times, you wordlessly take the child and tuck them back into their bed and then leave the room. It takes a night or two for them to figure out that you really mean business! :D

Hey there Tanya! It has been awhile, I have been crazy busy and on Hiatus for a long time with a huge move, then we still had to find a house and lived with my sister for a couple months, blah...but I am back to spaces now and I am looking forward to reconnecting with everyone!
I am sooooo excited to see how much Logan has grown, scarey how fast it passes by hey? I know, cause this month I am going to be the mother of a teenager as my oldest turns 13 on the 24th!
