Needing Some Feedback
For the past couple of weeks I have been trying to think of some ideas to make some extra money for the upcoming holidays. I think I might have an idea and I would like to know what you think about it. Ok here it is: I've been thinking of typing up and sending out Christmas/Holiday letters from Santa. I got the idea when I started looking on the internet for Santa letters so that Logan would get one but I couldn't believe the prices that sites were asking for them. Some wanted $14.95!! Which is crazy so I thought "I can do that for a lot less" and hopefully some of my family and friends would like them too.
So here's what you would get: the letter would be on Christmas themed paper, an "authentic" letter directly to your child from Santa, the letter would be personalised with specific things (ie, town they live in, gifts they've asked for, their age), and I'm debating about including either a coloring page that they can leave for Santa or maybe some stickers. I think I would set the price at $5.25 for each letter.
Let me know what you think, I really appreciate it!! More updates to follow depending on the responses that I get.

Tanya, I think the idea is brilliant! Would you worry at all about the reliability of the US postal system? or would it be certified mail? How would you advertise yourself? I've been trying to come up with ways to have some extra Christmas cash as well, but never would have come up with such a fun idea. Hope today has been a good one for you and your family.

Great, great idea. The price sounds right. The only thing I'd worry about would be the postal service, like Jenni said. The stickers and colouring pages are a great idea as well.
(I still have my letter from Santa that I got when I was about 6!)
If all goes well, you could work it into a year-round thing, Easter Bunny maybe. Can you make a website or how are you going to get the word out??
Thanks for the comment about Marissa. She is a great girl!!!

Hey there it sounds like a wonderful idea!! However Living in Canada, (I am not sure if the States has this or not)We have a service all the kids do is write Dear Santa letters and address them to north pole, hoh oho, might be worth checking out if you guys have the same program or not before you invest money into it :S
Have you thought about maybe getting one or two kids around Logan's age to babysitt? the interaction would be awesome for him and it would make some pocket cash for you!
Also not sure how crafty you are, but what about making some crafts, and selling them, or maybe some baking. Or how about offering to type up resumes, recipies, final draft term papers etc. for people? there is always alot of money in that and now is about the right time for those types of things. If you have a college, or university near by you could put a poster up on the bulliten board there! U'd be surprised at how much you could make.
Hope I have helped out a bit!

Hi Tanya!
Actually, this sounds like a good idea! Unique, and kinda fun. Not sure on the pricing aspect - might need some market research there.
The web would be a great place to advertise such a venture i would think.
Good luck with it!

This is a great idea...I might even order one myself. At a minimum I will help you advertise :)
That sounds like such a great idea! I love it! You brought a smile to my face on this rainy, gloomy day on this side of Oregon.
Hugs,
Becca
That sounds absolutely adorable! How would you do payment? Check/money order probably... From what I know about you, you're terribly clever/crafty, so this would work out well!! We're always needing extra money too. In fact the way we paid for Christmas last year... I got permission to leave flyers in the office at our complex and I had a couple of nibbles... Women who turned out to be my neighbors bought two gift boxes for $25 apiece... It was a dozen large cookies in a really cute dollar store ($5) box. The other cost was Christmas-themed cellophane. It was enough! $50 for $15 worth of materials was perfect! :D
That's a very fun idea, Tanya. I think it will work well! You should ask the local elementary school if you might put a flier into the kids' friday folders that go home to mom and dad. We get tons of fliers from local businesses for everything from karate lessons to Christmas craft nights. And it all comes home from school!
