Deals of the Week

I just wanted to let you all know about some great deals I got this week. I actually didn't do any garage saling this weekend (I know - can you believe it??), but I did find some good sales at a couple of stores around here.

My first stop was to Kohl's where they have stuff marked from 55-90% off. I found a polo shirt for Mike for under $10. I also got some cute little shorts and two shirts for the baby - altogether those cost me $8. One of the shirts was only $1!!

My next stop was to Old Navy where they are also having a summer sale. They have a ton of stuff marked down at least 50% - too bad I couldn't shop for myself :( I did manage to find a lot of shirts for Mike - both t-shirts for the summer and polo shirts that he'll be able to wear at work. All of the t-shirts were on sale for $3.99 and the polo shirts were only $5.99. I found some socks for Logan and the baby (all under $3.99 for 3 packs) and some footed jammies to give out as baby gifts. There are 5 other women that I know that are due around the same time as me so I'm trying to get a jump on buying baby gifts. The footed jammies were only 97 CENTS!! Too bad they only had 2 of those or I would have bought more.

I also stopped at Target where they have Pampers on sale this week. The boxes of diapers are on sale for $19.99 - if you buy two boxes they give you a $5 Target gift card. I also went up to Targets website and they had coupons to save $5 on a box of Pampers if you also buy wipes. AND THEN I also had some coupons from Pampers to save $2 off a pack of diapers. FINALLY I used a $10 Target gift card that I had gotten from them on a previous shopping trip. They let me combine all of my coupons and the $10 gift card which meant my total came to under $31 - plus I got a $5 gift card to use for the next time. If I had not used all the coupons the total would have come to $52 (diapers + wipes). I think I deserve a pat on the back for that shopping trip :)

So those are my great deals for the week - what have you found?

San Francisco

The next day of our trip we went to San Francisco. I think this is one of my favorite cities in the US. I've only been there a couple of times but I really enjoy it. The day we chose to go the weather was absolutely lovely, it was in the mid-70's - so who could complain?

We arrived there around 10 am and found a parking garage for our van. Anyone going to San Francisco should know that parking there is a nightmare! Luckily, we found a parking garage that had a rate of $19 for the whole day - not a bad price! We then each bought an unlimited one day use pass for the cable cars, trolleys and buses.

While we were there we checked out Fisherman's Wharf, Chinatown, Grace Cathedral and took a harbor tour which took us near the Golden Gate bridge and Alcatraz. I think I could have done without the harbor tour. We took it around 5 pm and it was beginning to get a little "windy" out on the water. About halfway through the boat ride I started to feel very nauseous. I didn't get sick, although I probably would have felt better if I did. I think I could have done without going to Chinatown - we ate some food there that was questionable to say the least. We also visited Ghiradelli Square - if you're a chocolate lover you have to go there. Mom & I had the best milk chocolate caramel milkshakes there. They were SO yummy!!

After the boat tour my Mom & I did some shopping. I found myself a fleece coat and a shirt. I bought Logan a little cable car and Mike a new shirt that says Alcatraz. I also bought matching shirts (one is a onesie) for Logan and the baby. They say "Alcatraz rejects - Too cute".

San Francisco was a great little day trip but by the end of the day I was ready to go back to the hotel. I was still feeling slightly sick so I slept most of the ride home.

Welcome Summer!!

I cut these 5 minutes ago - I cannot wait to have these around all summer. Peonies are one of my favorite flowers - I just love all the blooms on them. I just hope I got all the ants off of them - that's my only beef with this beautiful flower - the ants LOVE them too! They remind me of my Grandma that is no longer with us. She had a huge peony bush in her front yard.

Next spring I think I'll divide them and put them in random flower beds around our house.

Sacramento - Part 1

Yes, yes, yes - I think I've finally found a little time to write an actual post. Life is beginning to return to normal. Only a couple of relatives remain in town and I went back to work tonight.

As I said before Sacramento was a lot of fun! My Mom & I flew out at 6:45 am - the flight to Denver was a little bumpy on the way down. I was pretty close to getting sick (thank goodness I'm able to take Dramamine at this stage of my pregnancy). I'm sure the bumpy flight along with getting up so early didn't help matters. We were in Sacramento before 11 am - which was great! We met up with my Aunt, Uncle and two cousins who also flew in and then got the rental van.

The first night in town we hit a mall and I was able to find some maternity clothes at Sears. They were clearancing out most of the maternity stuff so I got some great deals! After the mall we went to Old Sacramento - it was pretty neat down there. It was right along the river and they had an awesome candy store. They had signs posted throughout there that samples were what you ate while you were in the store. My cousin Evan & I took that statement to heart and ate A LOT of salt water taffy. It was so yummy - I think my new favorite flavor is pomegranate :)

Quick Post - Sorry

Just a quick little update - the trip to Sacramento was SO much fun! The wedding was a little hectic, San Francisco was as fun as ever (minus the harbor cruise), and the plane rides were a little interesting. I promise to go more in depth about all of that next week. I've been busy working this week and now some family is in town - more will be arriving tonight. To give you an idea of how big my Mom's side is - my Grandpa & Grandma have 10 kids, so in the immediate family there are 62 of us!! So when we all get together, it ends up being a BIG gathering. Not everyone is able to make it to the anniversary, but there will be over 50 of us there and that is not including the extended family that will be attending also.

On Sunday afternoon we'll be celebrating my Grandpa & Grandma's 60th wedding anniversary. It's hard to grasp what it would be like to married to someone for so long. It still boggles my mind that Mike & I have been married for 8 years and together for about 14 years. CRAZY!!

My Mom, Aunt & I hit a couple of garage sales today and we found some great deals! My Mom bought me a bassinet for the baby - guess how much she paid for it?? I'll post the price in the next entry. It is really nice and will come in very handy. We didn't have one for Logan but I think we will get a lot of use out of this one. Logan usually just napped on the couch when he was an infant but now that I'll have a bouncy, bubbly 3 year old along with an infant I think the baby will be much safer in the bassinet ;) It also has wheels so it will be able to just glide from room-to-room.

I also got some great fabric that I'm hoping can be used to cover the rocking chair I have. Maybe some lovely, lovely Auntie would be able to recover it for me ;) We'll see - hahaha.

That's it for now - I'll be back next week. I promise!!
