Ssshhhh!

The other night we went over to my Mom & Dad's for dinner. After playing some cards (I hate Nerts!!), while we were visiting, the phone rang. It was my Grandpa calling to talk to my Dad. While Dad was on the phone Logan decided he wanted to talk. My Dad handed Logan the phone.

Logan: Hi

Logan (speaking to my Dad): I hold the phone, let go.

Logan: continues talking to Great Grampy

Logan (looks at all of us watching him): Sshhh!! I on the phone!

We all crack up!

Logan (decides he's done talking, hands phone back to my Dad): That phone is HEAVY!

OMG - it was so funny! And of course I'm sure he got the "Ssshhh - I'm on the phone" from me & Mike since we're constantly telling him that when we are on a phone call.

Moron!

That is how I feel right now. As noted on my sidebar I completely burnt my hand yesterday with some cooking oil. Yesterday I was fixing lunch and decided to make a couple of cheese sticks. They were cooking and looking yummy as ever. As they finished I began to get them out of the oil with tongs. I grabbed the first one and then decided "what the heck, I'll grab the last two out together". That was a HUGE mistake. I picked them up and of course they slipped out of the grasp of the tongs and fell back into the still HOT oil. And it splashed up onto my right hand. I am very impressed that I didn't start swearing like a sailor at that point. My hand instantly turned red but didn't hurt right away. Logan & I ate our lunch and went downstairs. And that is when the throbbing began. Oh my goodness did it hurt! I grabbed a bag of frozen peas and that seemed to help for a while. Then I switched to some ice water - that really helped but I was worried I would get frostbite. I put some aloe vera on it and also some neosporin and continued to soak it off & on for about another 3 hours. After that point it finally stopped throbbing.

Last night at work it was still a little tender but not bad. They had some burn spray in the first aid kit there, that felt really good. This morning I woke up and didn't notice any pain at all but once I got in the shower and had warm water hit it it began hurting again. I guess I won't be doing dishes for a couple of days!

My hand is still red, mainly on my index finger on down towards my wrist. I also have two good sized blisters, but at least it's not throbbing!

All Egged Out

I think Logan is finished with egg hunting for a good 365 days (or however long until Easter next year). Mike took him to one last weekend (March 15) at the zoo, then we all went to one this past Saturday and then he had 4 (FOUR!) on Sunday. He think he was a little exhausted from all the egg finding. He made out like a bandit though - my goodness! The Easter bunny must really like little boys who refuse to sit on the potty. Hahahaha. He got some really cute stuff - new things for his train set, candy, a pirate beach towel, a whole pirate Easter basket, candy, a new movie, bath paints, and of course candy. I have since hid most of the candy and now I guess I should finally throw out the Halloween candy that we still have left. It's been taking up valuable cabinet space so I think it's time to trash it.

I conveniently got sick Sunday night. I woke up Monday with a horrible sore throat and plugged nose. Thank goodness I was able to find someone to work for me. I don't think I could have worked all night!

17 Weeks

I had my 17 week check-up today. Even though I'm only 17 weeks along I cannot believe that I'm already 17 weeks along. Make any sense?

The check-up went fine. My bp is still good and I've gained 1 lb. now. It's amazing how much tighter my jeans are feeling because of one-flippin'-pound! The heartbeat was strong at 153 bpm - doctor is still thinking a girl. I did mention to him the fact that I've been having quite a few headaches (2-3 a week). I hadn't been taking anything to try to ease them - just drinking lots of water. He did say though that I could have 1000 mg of Tylenol at once but not to exceed 2500-3000 mg in a day. He also said if the symptoms change or worsen that he might want to consult a specialist. It seems like I've traded morning sickness for headaches this time around :)

We'll get to have an ultrasound next visit (April 25) - hopefully the little one will cooperate. It took us 2 or 3 times before Logan "showed" himself.

Logan's Work

Last night we went to Logan's "work". I'm not sure if I've ever blogged about his "work". It is actually one of the mall's in town. They have a play area for little kids that Logan just loves. We try to take him up there at least once a week. I'm sure once summer rolls around though we'll start heading to the park instead. He LOVES going up there. Last night was one of the best times he's had while "working" I think. He was so well behaved and there were only 4 other kids in the play area. (We've noticed if there are too many kids he seems to turn off his ears and does not share as well.) He really hit it off with a little girl last night - she must have been about 4 years old. They were having a great time chasing each other and pretending. She would act like she was a monster and chase Logan or they would pretend to scoop ice up to make the waterfall work again. It was just a great time watching them play together. Before we knew it it was 9 and the mall was shutting down. Logan was practically sweating by the time we left he had run around so much. As we were leaving the mall we asked if he had fun. His reply, "Work was VERY fun!"

Exactly what we wanted to hear!

Our Weekend

We had a nice weekend around here despite the fact that I did have to work. Saturday morning I worked the early shift - I had to be to work at 7 am. I don't even remember the last time I had to work that early! I was kind of nervous because I had been worrying that I might get morning sickness. I got sick while I was pregnant with Logan almost every morning. Miraculously though I felt fine (no sickness with this baby - yay!)

Work went fine (work always goes well - I guess that's what happens when you like your job). And because it was a pretty slow day I got to leave about an hour early. Can't complain about that! Before heading for home I stopped at the dollar store to pick up a couple of things for Easter. It is really amazing what you can find there for a buck! I found a couple of little toys for Logan's basket and of course some candy.

Later that night we decided to take Logan to Horton Hears a Who. Since he napped so late we went to the 8 o'clock show. He did really well at the movie (his second one now). He even sat in his own chair and didn't freak out when it tried to fold up. I think this was the first movie Mike & I had gone to since going to see the Veggie Tales one with him. I think we need to get out more ;) As we were getting ready to leave the theater I think Logan managed to say HI to every person that was there. As they would walk by our aisle Logan would loudly yell, "HI!!" So cute!!

An Update is in Order

We made it back from Minneapolis Sunday night. We had a great time visiting Taylor. We got to The Hilton around 9:30 Friday night. We were sitting in the hot tub by 10:30 that night :) It felt great after a long car ride to sit in there and relax!
Saturday we were at the Mall of America by 11. We decided to eat lunch first since we didn't have much for breakfast. I had some very yummy gyoza's. I haven't had those for quite a while! After lunch we decided to play miniature golf. We had a good time doing that - I even almost got a hole-in-one! The dang ball bounced in the cup and then came back out! Taylor ended up beating me by 2 strokes - so close!! Once we were done there we (mainly me) decided to do some shopping. My main goal? Find a maternity swimsuit for the summer since I'm sure we'll be at one of the local pools with Logan quite a bit and up at the cabin on the lake. I did manage to fine one at Motherhood Maternity. It's a cute black & white tankini. I also found some cute polo shirts for Logan at Old Navy. We left the mall around 4 and headed back to the hotel. Mike's feet were killing him so we dropped him off and then Taylor & I headed to IKEA.

Have I mentioned lately how much I love that place? LOVE IT!! They used to have ones that had castles, knights and horses on him (our neighbor Shar in WA sewed him curtains out of a set of those) and I was hoping to pick up another pair for the twin size bed we'll be getting him but I could not find them. I did manage to find a couple of other things though ;) By the time we got back to the hotel we were beat. We relaxed for a bit and then headed to dinner.

Taylor took us to this great Napali restaurant in St. Paul - it was fabulous! If you ever go there you have got to try the Momo's - they are fabulous! We only ordered two main dishes and we still had enough leftovers for Taylor to eat the next day. After dinner Taylor took us to the #1 dessert cafe in Minn/St. Paul - Cafe Latte - once again, it was fab! We each had a different dessert so we could sample :) Mike had a blueberry/lemon cheesecake, I had a piece of tres leche cake, and Taylor had some sort of cheesecake with chocolate chunks in it. We returned to the hotel after picking up some snacks and once again headed off to the pool.

Sunday we headed down to Taylor's college and hung out down there for a bit. We got on the road around 2:30 and got home later that night. It was a great little vacation and I think it was a good idea that we got there on Friday night instead of Saturday morning. It didn't feel like we were driving the whole time.

Next year if everything works out (which I have no doubt it will) we will be visiting Taylor at an entirely different location. We'll find out next week!!

Hitting the Road

Tomorrow afternoon Mike & I are heading to Minneapolis for the weekend. I am so in need of a nice little vacation! We're going down to visit Taylor - hopefully the weather is better than the last time we visited. As I had said earlier we're staying at the same hotel. I'm hoping to go to the Mall of America on Saturday (I haven't been there for over 10 years!) and hit IKEA. Of course on the way home we'll be making a stop at Trader Joe's.

I probably won't be around this weekend so I hope you all have a great one! See you next week!

More Talk of the Potty

Now that Logan is flat-out refusing to use the potty this is what you hear/see at our house at least two times a day:

We spot Logan walking behind the couch, to the corner, or another location that is more "private". He begins to get a determined look on his face.

"Logan? Are you pooping?"

"Ummm, I'm just busy Mommy. Don't change my poopy."

"If you're pooping let's go up and use the potty."

"No, I'm not done yet."

"Well then let's go up to the bathroom!"

"Don't change my poopy Mommy!!" *he then puts his hand out in front of him like a running back to show he means business*

Yup, this is my life. There is a lot of potty talk going on around here right now. So exciting.
